Fragments of melody, distorted
sounds, obsessive ostinati and recurring themes that linger briefly
before vanishing that's the essence of O'Bergh's new CD, Specters
of Twilight. Verging from the lyrical to the propulsive, the 21 haunting
tracks are infused with elements of jazz, rock, techno, electronic,
and musique concrete. Inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos and MeShell
Ndegeocello, the CD represents a new musical direction for O'Bergh.
Available in two versions: original and remixed. See Music Player
to the right.
What is it about music that so powerfully affects
us? Starting with the premise that music is the motion of the universe
and life itself, Song of Fire
is a journey of exploration. Using mp3 song clips and photos, the writing
blends travel, culture, personal stories, humor and spirituality to explore
the meaning of music in our lives.

Blending elements of jazz, world fusion, and
ambient music, Jon O'Bergh creates a lushly beautiful musical style. Each
of his five CDs explores a different side of this multi-talented pianist
and keyboardist: the soothing sounds of the world's spiritual traditions
on Sacred Spaces; the cyberjazz cool of the
cosmic lounge on Songs from Other Planets; a
journey through the world's diverse musical cultures on Carta;
the haunting piano pieces inspired by Mayan ruins on Meditations
from a Lost World; and the moods of the millennium on Millennial
Landscapes.
